HALIBURTON ATV TRAIL RIDING
The Haliburton SCHOOL OF
THE ARTS is Canada's premiere college for instruction in almost all forms of the visual arts. During July and August, hundreds of courses are conducted by some of the most renowned artist / teachers in Eastern Canada. For specific info about what HSTA has to offer artists, whether "budding" or professional, visit www.haliburtonschoolofthearts.ca/ .
During the weeks of the weeklong summer courses, Kashaga Lodge offers a special 5-day package specifically for HSTA students. The four units of the lodge building are set aside exclusively for artists during the weeks of the courses. All suites have fully-equipped kitchens, private bath, one or two bedrooms, living room with cable TV and wireless internet, BBQ on the deck, and best of all, a magnificent view over Lake Kashagawigamog. Furthermore, there is a pleasant beach, with picnic tables, barbecue, swim raft, kayaks and canoes just 75 metres from the suites.
During the summer months, perhaps the 3 most popular activities engaged in by lodge guests are fishing, fishing, and fishing. Although Lake Kashagawigamog is about 10 miles long, Kashaga Bay, at the north end, is renowned for some of the best bass, walleye,
and muskie fishing
in the County of Haliburton. On Feb 17 / 08, the muskie episode of the Getting Hooked TV Show was aired, which had been filmed last fall on Lake Kashagawigamog. Click on episode #7 on THE GETTING HOOKED WEBSITE to play the whole show on your computer.
On the weekend of July 26 / 08, there's a two-day bass tournament being run from the Kashaga Lodge dock. For information on entering this event, you can visit THE MEGA-CITY BASS ANGLERS WEBSITE.
KASHAGA LODGE offers the most ATV-friendly accommodation in the County of Haliburton. ATVers who stay at Kashaga Lodge have DIRECT access
to one of the largest, and most popular, systems of ATV trails
in Ontario. The trailhead is exactly 3 1/2 km of ATV-legal county road from the Lodge, and you ride right past a gas station on the way there. Trail types range from scenic rail trail to extreme rock climbs, and everything in between. There are several days of awesome ATV trails accessible right from your cottage deck.
Kashaga Lodge is located quite centrally within the ATV trails managed by both the Haliburton ATV Association and the Kawartha ATV Association. Although for 2008, HATVA and KATVA have formed an alliance whereby either club's ATV trail pass will be honoured by the other ATV club,
neither Club is a member of the province-wide alliance between the Ontario Federation of ATV Clubs (OFATV) and the Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance (EOTA.) So unfortunately, riders from southern or eastern Ontario who are members of their local ATV club will need a day pass to ride Haliburton or Kawartha trails.
At Kashaga Lodge, we believe that ALL Ontario ATV Clubs should be under one umbrella organization, "One Province - One Trailpass" with ALL Clubs sharing the common goal of providing member riders with a pleasant, safe, and environmentally responsible ATV experience. Until such time as KATVA and HATVA join the province-wide "Trillium Trails Nrtwork" with OFATV and EOTA, Kashaga Lodge will pay for the day pass to allow guests from any Ontario ATV Club to enjoy the Haliburton experience.
